I went to Julie's prenatal class based on the previous reviews and was delighted to find that she lived up to every glowing word. She is extremely dedicated to her clients and her craft. I recommend her class to every expecting mother I meet. Her postnatal yoga classes are a perfect extension of the prenatal class, and give the new mom the rare opportunity to take care of herself while toting the new baby along. Julie is the best.
Yoga Niche is wonderful. I go to the Thursday 6pm class with Julie. She is great at giving everyone personal attention and I feel a sense of community in getting to know the others in the class. I highly recommend!
"This is my first yelp review ever, and I joined just to let everyone know how wonderful Yoga Niche is. I have practiced yoga at many different studios and gyms, over many years, and have never had a yoga teacher like Julie, the owner of Yoga Niche. She is beyond amazing! She teaches the "anusara" style of yoga which is vigorous and also focused on balancing the body. Julie is extremely knowledgeable, but more importantly she really cares about each and every one of her students. She takes the time to understand what issues you may have, past injuries, etc., and is very responsive in helping you to modify asanas, and select exercises that will help you achieve your goals. She has a great sense of humor, and doesn't take herself too seriously - yet she teaches a challenging class that enables each person to improve at the pace they feel comfortable. One of the best things about her studio is the sense of community, and I believe that comes straight from Julie's generosity of spirit and overall love of teaching yoga. As other reviewers have noted, this is a "hidden gem". Located conveniently in the industrial area of San Carlos just south of Howard, Yoga Niche relies almost entirely on word of mouth. There is never any problem parking and the tucked away location helps contribute to the feeling of a haven away from the craziness of everyday life. There is no retail shop or sales people, just yoga. Julie offers early morning, lunchtime, and evening classes - check the website for the latest schedule. She also has pre- and post-natal classes. If you are looking for a yoga studio with a personal touch, a super competent instructor who gets to know her students and responds to their needs, and a challenging practice to help you achieve strength and flexibility goals at a pace that works for you, you need to check out Yoga Niche!”
This is a great find in San Carlos. I have been going to the prenatal yoga classes for the past 5 weeks. The twice a week schedule works great for me and the teachers have been amazing. Very knowledgeable!! Great way to relax and prepare for delivery and motherhood!
"I have been going to this hidden gem of a studio for 3 months. This studio was exactly what I was looking for for a long time! It is very clean and beautiful. There is a huge mirror along the wall so that you can check your postures as well! The instructor Julie is very nice, kind and easygoing. The studio temperature is kept around 80F. It gives me a nice sweat without being too hot! If you live in Belmont, San Calros, or Redwood City and are interested in Yoga, this is where you should go. You won't regret it at all! Since I started going there, I got completely into the yoga lifestyle and it makes me very relax and happy. Also interesting is that she recently started offering prenatal/postnatal and also children's yoga classes. I highly recommend this place to anyone. I found my "niche" here and I hope you do too!”
"A small little yoga studio nestled in the industrial area of San Carlos. I and my coworkers have been going to Julie's studio for at least six weeks. She's awesome. She have a great easy going personality and is understanding. Most of us were beginners so when we first started, she was patient and guided us through movement and poses. As the weeks progress, she mixes it up and targets different part of the body. It's like catered semi-private lessons. She's really big on vinyasa and is all about transitioning through the the poses along with the breath. She gets straight into it and as my coworker puts it, "she goes for the slow burn" which I think is really an effective way to build strength. I'm starting to like vinyasa more and more because I come out of class feeling relaxed and energized. And all this at an affordable price. One major plus is she have extra good quality yoga mats for you to use when you forget yours for free! As compare to Yoga tree in San Francisco where they make you pay $2 for an old thin mat? This is definitely a hidden gem and Julie is a good yoga instructor to trust to help you train long term. Mad props to my coworker, total l. for finding this place.”
"Julie has been my yoga teacher for over 6 years. I cannot say enough good things about what Julie's presence has been in my life assisting my mind, body and soul as I've transitioned into my thirties. I would describe her style as a blend of yoga, dance and martial arts. No two classes are the same and I appreciate that Julie takes student requests for poses or areas of the body to focus into account. Location is between Old County Road and Industrial near the border of Redwood City--super convenient to 101 and also plenty of parking in the evenings. Besides flow classes, Julie offers a pre n post natal class, a kids yoga camp and an advanced practice--see website for details. As a former manager for lululemon athletica in Burlingame, I've experienced the majority of offerings on the Mid-Peninsula and offer Yoganiché as the most unique and challenging practices around.”
"Kids yoga class here is great...mine actually find a bit of inner peace while having fun and stretching...while I enjoy my latte...Julie is great, and is a mom so, she understands.”
"I absolutely love YogaNiche! The teacher, Julie, is fantastic. She is extremely knowledgeable about all things Yoga, and makes even a beginner like myself feel comfortable. The experience levels in the Tuesday and Thursday evening classes range from beginner to advanced, but everyone is welcome to practice in their own comfort zone. I have brought many friends to YogaNiche, and they all love it and are beginning to practice as well. A previous reviewer defined it as a hidden gem, and that it is. I recommend it highly to anyone and everyone. There are even pre/post natal classes along with children's yoga classes.”
